How to start Karting?

STEP 1 - GET A KART

Before you start competing in IAME Series UAE you should practice to learn the basics and to do so, you will need a kart.

Kart can be rented or purchased from us or one of the racing teams in the UAE.
Depending on your budget you can go for either second hand or brand new equipment.

When buying a kart, make sure you get one eligible for your age group.

IAME classes:

  • Bambino for drivers 5 to 8 years old – IAME M1 60cc engine
  • Mini for drivers 8 to 12 years old – IAME X30 Mini 60cc engine
  • Junior for drivers 12 to 15 years old – IAME X30 125cc Junior engine
  • Senior for drivers 15+ years old – IAME X30 125cc engine
  • Master for drivers 30+ years old – IAME X30 125cc engine
  • Gearbox for drivers 15+ years old – IAME KZ III Screamer 6-speed gearbox engine

STEP 2 - RACE GEAR

Safety First.

There are a few race gear items you would need to purchase in order to race karts:

  • Helmet with FIA Karting homologation (details)
  • Suit (Overall) with FIA Karting homologation (details)
  • Race boots covering your ankles
  • Gloves
  • FIA body protection
  • Neck protector – not mandatory but highly recommended
STEP 3 - ARKS TEST

Written test & Driving exam needed to apply for kart racing license.

You need to know the basics of karting to pass this test.

Part I is a written test – Multiple Choice Questions about flags, safety, regulations and driving standards.

Part II is a driving exam where we will be looking at your driving standards, correct use of racing line, throttle/brake and your driving pace.

STEP 4 - APPLY FOR LICENSE

Competition license is issued by EMSO (Emirates Motorsport Organization).

Once you have passed your ARKS test, you can apply for a license.
There are two types of license: National and International.
If you are a Novice driver and you apply for the first time, you can only get a National license.
After competing in at least 6 national events, you will be able to upgrade your license to International and compete in International competitions around the world.

STEP 5 - RACING TEAM

Once you have obtained your license, you are ready to enter the competition.

You can either run yourself, if you have a knowledge about motorsport, or you can join one of the racing teams who will take care of you during competitions as well as practice days.

STEP 6 - RACE REGISTRATION

Now you are ready to race!

The last step is to register for the race.
